Posted by u/LifeIsnt FairIsItEh 6 hours ago My boss who has their own office turns down our workspace temperatures even in winter. My boss has their OWN climate controlled office but occasionally walks through our workspaces (doesn't even work there, just walks through or stops to talk to us). They prefer a freezing office space and make us suffer through it. I live somewhere with a cold winter and everyday my boss will fight with us to turn the thermostats back down any time we slightly turn it

It's just "too warm for her" when the rest of us are freezing even though she sits in her own office all day. In fact I often wear sweaters to work and I can't stand how cold I get, other people bring blankets. Seriously, we need blankets (even when it's not cold out)? We constantly argue with her about the temp and she basically just says it up, this is a daily occurrence. It's crazy how bosses care so little about the comfort of their employees that they expect them to use blankets in the summ

Naps_and_cheese - 5 hr. ago Make friends with the building staff. Explain the situation. They hate bosses just as much as you. Depending on the model, they can put it in dummy mode where the thermostat responds to button presses, but does nothing unless you input a code, They can also put a plastic cage over the thermostat and not allow anyone to change the temperature. This is commonly done because people are always with office thermostats. 443 Reply Share ●●●

MrBunnyBrightside - 5 hr. ago Honestly to me this feels like it's somewhere between a power play and a budgeting exercise. It's not about how they prefer it, they just want to cheap out on heating and also exert their power over you Reply Share 114

LifeIsnt FairIsItEh OP 4 hr. ago Ya for sure. But I work at a massive company and the budget of heat has nothing to do with my boss. She is genuinely just cold blooded or something lol 64 Reply Share

CEEBERUS666 · 5 hr. ago Break the thermostat completely Reply Share 231 relevant__comment 4 hr. ago . edited 3 hr. ago . 99 Seriously. Set the temp at 75° and remove the thermostat from the wall. You'll probably have to sit through and all-hands, but sounds like it'll be worth it. ●●● Reply Share

whoinvited thesepeopl 4 hr. ago . Get everyone in your department to buy ear muffs and fingerless gloves and wear them all the time as part of your work attire. If anyone outside your department asks why. Tell them. If this is a big enough company the problem may eventually solve itself. Reply Share 38

FollowingNo4648 - 5 hr. ago That's why I bought my own personal heater. I got tired of freezing to death at work and I keep it under my desk. Makes it nice and cozy. If you're not allowed to have a heater, then I would just get a heating pad. Those work great too. 82 Reply Share 49 ●●● LifeIsnt FairIsItEh OP 5 hr. ago I should get a heating pad! Reply Share ●●●

mnlawyerlady. 4 hr. ago I guess I knowing how cold would be helpful. I think 70 is appropriate in an office space. Getting cooler than that is pushing it. It also depends on how the office is laid out and the air flow. We have a small team. Two team members are always hot and three that are always cold. People want to change a degree of too depending on the temp outside - I get it. One day they cranked it from 72 to 80 and I

was like...I don't think that's appropriate it wasn't fair to clients or the other team members (who were just roasting). We have space heaters and I got people heavier company branded shirts to use (the warm literally wear as a light coat, and us freeze babies use them inside half the winter). It's a shared work space - I liked someone's suggestion of having maintenance set the temp and then make it so it can't be changed. Drastic temperatures in shared spaces is just 13 Reply Share

dukeofgibbon - 5 hr. ago One of my coworkers got stuck with a steel topped lectern for a deal and found a leatherette heated writing pad to warm her hands. Absolutely brilliant, every worker should equip their work space with something warm and a fan for cool. Boss needs to learn to compromise, I bet her office is toasty. ETA have someone aim a fan down the hall by her office so she steps out and feels cool. Then buy electric toe heaters regardless of the breakers. 31 Reply Share

StaringBerry 3 hr. ago In absolutely all honesty, if I wasn't allowed a space heater and this wasn't my dream job I would hands down quit over this. I cannot function when it's to cold. It makes me sleepy and I can't focus. Making typing on my compter too if my fingers are to cold. Vote Reply Share

2941 Bubbly-Kitty-2425 - 3 hr. ago Start bringing a portable heater for your desks. Plug it in, if everyone does this her electric bill will start going up! My SIL had to do this at her work! Vote Reply Share
